You’ve got talent and we believe in you. We believe in you so much we want to find new and better ways to tell the world about you. We also know you want to get better, you want to learn more, and have new experiences that open your eyes to what is possible. Help us help you help us build a greener LA and then let’s all get paid showing the world how to do it too.
Funny enough, it turns out we’ve been doing a lot of this for nearly twenty years now and I’ve met more people over the past few months than I can count on my fingers and toes who’ve told me they owe a lot of their career to the experiences they’ve had and the people they’ve met within the USGBC-LA community.
We’re green building people, so what are we going to do about that now? We’re going to build on that strong foundation, we’re going to bring some organic, sustainable structure to how we develop the talent of this region to design, build, and operate the green buildings of the future. That means investing in our people today and empowering the next generation of sustainability leaders.
Recently we launched the Talent Weekly, a weekly newsletter where we are highlighting local job opportunities, industry employers, upcoming training, and spotlighting a USGBC-LA member or intern. As part of this we are creating a mentor network, and we’d welcome you to put yourself out there, connect with someone, and maybe you’ll find that we really do learn more by teaching.
Our regional building policy, whether in California or in Los Angeles, leads the country and our people are our greatest asset. The better we can connect our people with the next opportunity, the best companies, and the right knowledge, the more we can start to export that talent to the places that it need it most. To do this we’re embarking on a journey to better understand where we need improved educational content, how to best digitize that content, and then make sure we’re providing the certificates and credits that mean something to you and to your next employer.
