Let’s Connect: MGBCE, Membership, and More

Phew. That whole Municipal Green Building Conference & Expo (MGBCE) is a real thing and a ton of work for the team here at USGBC-LA. The good news is that this year’s MGBCE (the 18th year believe it or not!) has come together really well with keynote speakers covering the data behind climate change, one of Obama’s former CSO’s, the Mayors of Santa Monica and Oxnard, leaders of sustainability from the County of LA and the CSU’s, and with 28 sessions on sustainability solutions, we hope this will be one of the best years yet!

We are incredibly grateful for all the effort and support that has gone into making the event happen and we hope you can make it. Outside of the event, we’ve been distilling down all the great feedback and insight we’ve been hearing on the organization and are starting to make changes where we can to move things in the right direction.

One of the first things we’re doing is reinvesting in the parts of the organization that need it most and next week we are going live on our new member platform that will run the backend for our membership process and website. This means we’ll be better able to connect you with the events, training, and committees that interest you the most as well improving the member directory, new member communication, and list of resources at your fingertips.

We’ve also introduced new member pricing that will allow for emerging professionals and students to get discounted rates while providing corporate membership levels that include multiple individual memberships and some opportunities for recognition.

Why are we focusing on our members so much, you ask? Well that’s because our members are the lifeblood of our organization and we want to do everything we can to make your experience with USGBC-LA as valuable as possible. It will be a journey and we hope you join us, your friends, your cousin, your clients, and whomever else you know who cares about the future of sustainability in the built environment. Which is why, starting May 1st, we are launching a member drive throughout May and June. We simply can’t do this without you and we need to get all of the right people on the bus.

During this member drive we will be sending out a member survey to dive even deeper into finding out what you care about and what you want more of. We will be hosting a number of events to get current members and prospective members out n’ about, have their voices heard, and get all of us connected to each other and excited about the future of this organization —  because there is so much good work left to do. See you soon.
