The Central Coast Regional Leadership Advisory Board (RLAB) brings together building industry professionals and sustainability advocates from San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties to advance a more resilient future. With expertise spanning architecture, construction, design, urban planning, and policy, we work collaboratively to transform the Central Coast into a sustainable community, economy, and environment. Through education, advocacy, and a focus on green building design, construction, and operational excellence, RLAB promotes sustainable practices that support the region’s climate, water, waste, and energy goals.
Values
- Facilitate a more equitable distribution of the triple bottom line (social, economic, and environmental).
- Protect and steward the natural environment, acknowledging its relationship with the built environment.
- Create a collaborative, regional network of building professionals and trade groups who are committed to green design practices.
- Inspire action and advocacy of green building solutions through education and outreach.
- Celebrate innovations and successes of organizations and businesses implementing green building designs and programs.
Leadership and Purpose
- Regional Leadership Advisory Boards (RLABS) are comprised of passionate leaders who advance transformational communities in their regions across California.
- RLABs build local capacity by developing an initiative (programs or events) that directly benefits members in the region and serves as an active pipeline for community engagement, network development, and impact.
- RLAB members are responsible for generating ideas and initiatives that address local community needs while aligning with USGBC-CA’s mission. RLABs will direct and advise on regional advocacy while providing feedback on statewide or federal policy.
History
The history of the Central Coast Green Building Council began in 2008 when a group of local leaders recognized the need for better practices in the built environment. CCGBC became an aligned chapter of USGBC National shortly thereafter. We were 100% supported by the local sponsors, members, and community members. Homegrown on the Central Coast, we are here because of your support!
Over the years, as the industry and policy continue to drive towards the most advanced sustainability trends, local membership interests have broadened to discussions of net positive influence, impact investments, climate change, and resiliency regulations. The Central Coast Regional Leadership Advisory Board continues to evolve to bring these topics to the forefront of discussion and education in the region’s professional and regulatory environments.
